Nature of the Competition
The Manawatu/Wanganui Exchange is a one-day competition between WCA and Manawatu/Wanganui.Association. The competition is played in two sections:
Section A - Association Croquet and Section B - Golf Croquet. AC and GC alternate venues each year. Normally played in Feb/March.
Play starts at 9.30am at both venues.
Section A – Association Croquet – teams of eight players, two each from handicap ranges - 0 to 3, 4 to 8, 9 to 12 and 14 to 24. 2 hour 45 minute games plus Regulation 8.
Morning play: Each player will play an advanced play doubles match where the players ranked 1 and 2 will partner those ranked 3 and 4 and the players ranked 5 and 6 will partner those ranked 7 and 8. The actual pairings are decided by the team selectors.
Afternoon play: Each player will play an advanced play singles match against the equivalent ranked player from the opposing team.
Section B – Golf Croquet – teams of eight players, two each from handicap ranges: 0 to 2, 3 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. 13 point games with probably a one hour time limit.
Morning play: Four rounds of doubles play, different partner each game, mixed grades as per schedule. There will probably be a one hour time limit. Afternoon play: Each player will play a singles match against the equivalent ranked player from the opposing team and a reverse singles match against the other opposing team player in his/her grade. The Tournament Manager may impose a time limit on any game which is not progressing at a reasonable rate and which is likely to delay the play of subsequent rounds.
