LNI AC Teams Event - The "David Curtis Cup"
25/16 Nov 2023
The Lower North Island Teams event was successfully held at the Paraparaumu Croquet Club which was hosted by the WCA this year and managed by Bob McKenzie with the Tournament Referee Graeme Roberts and assisted by Dennis Kerr and Anne McKenzie as referees and umpire.
The event was held over 2 days with the rain holding off but the windy and very cold conditions persisted through out, however, not dampening the great spirit and companionship that this tournament brings on an annual basis, and this weekend tournament was no exception, with 36 games of AC being played, consisting of 12 games of doubles being contested on Saturday and 24 games of Singles on the Sunday.
Many of the local teams (P.N & Wellington players travelled home after play on Sat to return the following morning, with the remaining 10 players and management, enjoying an evening meal at the "China Beach" Restaurant).
The Wellington team consisting of Baubre Murray, Mark Huttley, Bruce Manuge and Ross Dalley, proved to be a winning one and made an outstanding clean sweep of the tournament winning all their doubles and the singles games.
With the Manawatu-Wanganui team runners up.
